The Boston Family Engagement Network is a citywide coalition focused on raising awareness about the importance of family engagement in the life of a young child. We are parents, caregivers, community partners, early educators and family support workers who are invested in ensuring that beginning at birth, all young children have access to a quality educational experience whether at home, in school, or in child care, that supports all areas of their development.

Our core services and programs include:

  • Welcome Baby visits
  • Early literacy home visits
  • Early literacy workshops
  • Parenting education classes
  • Family Cafes
  • Parent (Caregiver) - Child Playgroups
  • Parent Leadership support and training

A Family Place is a 28 unit congregate family shelter that provides a number of services to assist families in locating and securing stable housing. Case management is available as well as workshops, classes, referrals, activities for children, homework assistance, and much more. Their goal is to assist each family in becoming self-sufficient and transitioned into stable housing as quickly as possible.

A Family Place free

A Family Place is a 28 unit congregate family shelter that provides a number of services to assist families in locating and securing stable housing. Case management is available as well as workshops, classes, referrals, activities for children, homework assistance, and much more. Their goal is to assist each family in becoming self-sufficient and transitioned into stable housing as quickly as possible.

The Group Adult Foster Care Program (GAFC) provides daily assistance with personal care services, case management services and ADL’s to elderly and/or disabled Mass Health Members who meet the clinical criteria for the program. These individuals must fit the criteria for the program and reside in some type of elderly/disabled housing complex. Potential members must be at least 22 years of age. There is no cost for services for Mass Health members who meet the eligibility requirements.

Those who are not eligible for free services may qualify to enroll for a small fee.

Year-round, extended-day programs enable parents to go to school or work. They offer comprehensive support for parents and children—including health services, nutrition and social services. Because Head Start knows that parents are the most important teachers; parents are deeply involved in the program. Parents are leaders in making policy and guiding programs, volunteering in the classroom and advocating for the needs of young children.
